There aren't any boring brands, there's always a f* ckton of boring people behind them. This week on building a brand we created a brand for Pest Control Services, not the cleanest industry but it's something that most households require during certain seasons. DISCLAIMER we are not promoting cruelty towards animals in anyway, this is merely for the purposes of experimentation.
There's not enough colour in these industries and no flavour so we though we'll start with the brand narrative and story!
Brand Story
Trudy was a normal rat that used to run away from people because they always tried to get rid of his kind. Trudy always heard about stories where ratfolk and humans could live peacefully together. He even heard of a rat that controlled a man by sitting in his chef's hat and became one of the most famous chefs in all of Copyright Land. Unfortunately for Trudy was still just a... rat, that was until he fell into a vat of chemicals and came out looking more like a Rat Person, he gained consciousness and could understand more about the world than he ever could and this is when Trudy started his empire, a company that catches pests and instead of killing them finds them homes that are better for them.
From the brand narrative we wanted to see how the F* CK we can make audiences love the BRAND and not just the story, we made it a brand that you can wear and walk around in. People always talk about "Brand Evangelism" but they don't really give consumers an option or method through which they can Evangelize a brand, merchandising is a great way to do this which is what led us to create the shirts that people could wear, it also doubles as uniforms for the staff.
This is how we'd create a pest control brand. Hope y'all enjoyed and join us next week for another Branding a Boring Industry!
