We rebranded the look
Did we need to? No. Did we do it? Yes.
Over this last week, as our website was going through a revamp, it felt like we really needed to solidify the brand and bring things together before the final registrations. In the midst of all this, I was having a conversation with the lads, and the entire branding we originally made was based on actual tailor shops. But here’s the thing: WE NEVER CREATED A BRAND IDENTITY. IT WAS JUST A FONT WITH COLOR.

That’s honestly one of the biggest reasons we were struggling with our design language as well. It also got me thinking: why the fuck would anyone trust us to brand them when we can’t even brand ourselves? That should be the real litmus test for what a creative studio can do. Don’t ask for their work, just fucking take one look at them and you’ll understand whether they’re the right fit or whether you should walk the fuck away.

This is genuinely something people should start doing for their agencies. Don’t look for the people who give you a better quote. A monkey can give you a better quote. Trust your social media agency if they have good social media, trust your mainline agency if they buy a billboard and market there, and trust your branding agency if they have KICKASS BRANDING. If they can’t do it for themselves, it speaks volumes about their ability to prioritize and how they’ll treat your brand. It can’t be just another job.

They need to be fucking passionate about this shit.
So yeah, this is our new branding. Hopefully it’s the only one we’ll ever need.
PS: Oh yeah, and we didn’t build a brand guideline because... it’s Rauly. He’s the walking brand guideline, so we’re good.

I find it funny watching people struggle to explain branding, primarily because it’s not entirely that easy to explain.
